We will come and get it

Most shops in Ottawa expect you to unplug the machine, drive it across town, drive home, then do the whole thing again a week later. We will collect it from your house or office, work on it at our own bench on Menten Place, and bring it back.

You can still walk in, of course. You just do not have to.

What it costs

$25To collect it, anywhere in urban Ottawa
FreeTo bring it back, whatever you decide
$75Assessment, credited against the work if you go ahead

Further out than that? Put your address in the ticket anyway. We will find out what the trip costs and tell you before anything is booked. Nothing is arranged, and nothing is charged, until you have agreed to a number.

How it works

  1. Tell us what is wrong. One short form: what the machine is, what it is doing, and where you are. About a minute, and you do not need an account.
  2. We confirm the pickup. We reply the same business day, usually within the hour during store hours, with a time and the cost. A person reads it, not an auto-responder.
  3. A local courier collects it. We book it and we track it, and you have a ticket number covering the whole trip.
  4. We look at it on our own bench. The $75 assessment tells you what is actually wrong. That $75 comes off the bill if you go ahead.
  5. You decide. Nothing beyond the assessment happens without your say-so. When you are ready, we send a payment link.
  6. It comes home. Return trip is free either way.

If it is not worth fixing, we will say so. You are out the assessment and nothing else, and the machine still comes back free. We would rather tell you that than sell you work on a machine that is finished.

What to put in the ticket

  • What it is. Make and model if you know it. “The beige tower under the desk” is a perfectly good answer.
  • What it is doing. In your own words. “It turns on and then dies” tells us plenty.
  • When it started, and whether anything happened first. A power cut, a drop, an update.
  • Whether the files matter. Say so plainly if there is something on it you cannot lose.
  • Your address, so we can sort out the pickup.

What we handle

  • Machines that will not start, or start and then stop
  • Slowdowns, crashes and blue screens
  • Virus and malware clean-up
  • Component installs and upgrades
  • Backing up and cloning drives
  • Laptops, desktops, workstations and servers
  • Machines we did not build, including anything bought elsewhere
