Repair terms and conditions

What we will do, what we need from you, and where the limits are. These apply to every repair, upgrade and installation we carry out.

LAST UPDATED · SEPTEMBER 30, 2026

These terms apply to all repair, upgrade and installation work carried out by RB Computing Inc. By leaving equipment with us, or by submitting a request online, you accept them. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you leave your machine.

1. Assessment

Most repairs begin with a diagnostic assessment, charged at our current published rate. Where we go on to carry out the repair, that charge is credited against the cost of the work. If we cannot determine the fault, or you choose not to proceed, the assessment charge still applies.

2. Estimates and approval

We will give you an estimated cost and an estimated completion time before beginning work. Estimates are given in good faith and are not a fixed quotation. We will contact you for approval before carrying out any work that would take the total materially above the estimate. Unforeseen faults, parts availability and supplier delays may affect completion times.

3. Your data is your responsibility

Back up your data before leaving equipment with us. Repair work can damage or destroy data, and some repairs require erasing the drive and reinstalling the operating system. A drive that is already failing may fail completely at any time, including while in our care.

We take reasonable care, but we are not able to guarantee your data and we do not provide data recovery services. If you cannot make a backup because the equipment will not start, tell us before we begin and we will discuss the options with you.

4. Access and passwords

Most repairs require us to sign in to the equipment. Any password you give us is used only to carry out the work you have requested and is accessible only to our staff. It is held with your service record, so if you would prefer, change it after collection. Please tell us about anything on the machine you would rather we did not encounter.

5. Hardware

We are not liable for hardware failures that occur during testing or repair, including failures of components that were already faulty or near the end of their life. We will tell you if replacement parts are needed and what they will cost before fitting them. Replaced parts are returned to you at collection unless you ask us to dispose of them, or they are being returned to a manufacturer under warranty.

6. Software and licensing

You confirm that you hold valid licences for the software installed on your equipment. We will not install, copy or activate software without a valid licence. Where a repair requires reinstallation, you may need to supply licence keys or account details.

7. Warranty on our work

Our workmanship is guaranteed for 30 days from collection. This covers the specific fault we repaired. It does not cover new or unrelated faults, further hardware failures, software problems, or issues caused by malware, misuse or changes made after collection.

Parts we supply carry their manufacturer warranty, which we will pass through to you.

8. Limitation of liability

Our liability for loss or damage to your equipment is limited to loss or damage caused by our negligence, and in any event to the total price of the repair. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost income, lost time or the cost of reconstructing data.

Some repairs, including virus and malware removal, may damage software or data and may require the operating system, applications or data to be reinstalled.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

9. Payment

Payment is due in full on collection unless agreed otherwise in writing. Equipment remains subject to our lien until paid for.

10. Collection and uncollected equipment

Please collect your equipment within 30 days of being told it is ready. After 30 days we may charge storage at our current rate.

Equipment left uncollected for 90 days after we notify you may be sold or disposed of to recover unpaid charges, in accordance with the Repair and Storage Liens Act (Ontario). Any surplus from a sale, after our charges and costs, is returned to you.

We will make reasonable attempts to contact you at the details you gave us before taking this step, so please keep them current.

11. Collection and delivery service

Where we collect and return equipment by courier, the collection charge is payable whether or not you go ahead with the repair. Return delivery is included. Equipment must be reasonably packaged for transport and we will advise if it is not. Risk during transit is covered by the courier terms, and we will help you with any claim.

12. Right to refuse

We may decline or stop work on any equipment, including where a repair is unsafe or uneconomic, or where we reasonably believe the equipment is not yours to authorise work on.

13. Privacy

Information you give us is used to carry out and support the work, and is handled in line with our privacy policy. We do not sell it.
